Visit Russia for Fascinating Cities

Moscow is the cosmopolitan centre of Putin's modern Russia. It is a great place to better understand the Russian psyche and to put the history of world events into context. Moscow has many beautiful and intriguing historic sites, including the Kremlin, Red Square and St Basil's Cathedral.

This vivid and vibrant Baroque and Neo-Classical northern city of St Petersburg is the perfect place to celebrate the dark melancholia and melodrama of Russian Literature. Take a walking tour to retrace the steps of the murderous villain Raskolnikov from Dostoevsky's 'Crime and Punishment', and visit the residence of the great author, where he wrote 'The Brothers Karamazov'. Have a drink at the café where Aleksandr Pushkin ate his last meal before dying in a duel, then visit the sight of the tragic death at the Aleksandr Pushkin Memorial Apartment Museum. Of course, there are also plenty of historic attractions – the Peterhof Royal Palace, the Peter and Paul Fortress, the State Hermitage Museum, Mariinsky Theatre and numerous other palaces, parks, museums and cultural venues.

Further afield, there are many more fascinating cities to visit, including Irkutsk, with its beautiful churches, Kazan, with its fortified citadel & other museums and historic sights, Yekaterinburg, Vladivostok, Kaliningrad, Samara and many more.

Visit Russia for an Iconic Rail Journey

Another of the top reasons to visit Russia is to enjoy the train journey of a lifetime on the Trans-Siberian railway. This is one of the top train journeys in the world, and the longest railway line found anywhere in the world. On this railway you can travel from Moscow to Russia's far east and even into Mongolia, China and beyond...

Away from its fascinating cities, the wild expanses of Russia await for intrepid adventurers to explore. This vast land has many beautiful natural regions to explore, including Lake Baikal, the deepest lake in the world – perfect for wildlife-spotting tours and hiking on the Great Baikal Trail. Russia as a whole boasts no fewer than 48 national parks, each of which has many natural wonders to explore.

Natural beauty spots include the Ruskeala Mountains, the Kamchatka peninsula, with its amazing volcanoes, the Altai Mountains and the untouched ecosystems of Taganay – to name but a few. See elk on Losiny Ostrov (Elk Island), See Caucasian leopards, and explore caves and canyons at Sochi National Park, or see more traces of wild cats throughout the Land of Leopards, by Vladivostok. Another great space for spotting rare birds and other animals is Shorsky National Park, on the Mrassu River.
